There is an all year ferry service connecting the east and west shores of the lake and there are also summer ferries for touring the lake from Bowness to Lakeside and Ambleside. Worth visiting is the island called Belle Isle which sits in the middle of Lake Windermere and is reputedly the most attractive feature of the lake. However you can only see this island from the ferries as lading is not allowed.
In Windermere itself there is a Steamboat Museum, St Martin's church which dates back to the 15th century, the 'World of Beatrix Potter' and many interesting shops, buildings, cafes and restaurants for visiting tourists. We recommend staying in a Windermere Holiday Home or alternatively in a nearby Windermere Holiday Cottage for your stay in this area.
Sorry, we do not yet have any properties for this area, but please check again soon.
Thank you.
